U.S. adults on negative aspects of online activism 2023, by ethnicity
According to an online survey conducted in the United States in May 2023, 82 percent of Asian respondents reported feeling that social media activism distracts people from issues that are truly important. Overall, 80 percent of white respondents felt that online activism makes people think they are making a difference when really they were not, compared to 64 percent of Black respondents.
