Trust in social media to report election information U.S. 2023, by age group
Heading into a presidential election year, a December 2023 survey found a considerable generational divide when it came to trusting social media's reporting of election information. Of those surveyed between the ages of 18 and 29, approximately 43 percent reported having either a great deal or fair amount of trust in social media's election coverage. In contrast, about 85 percent of those 65 and older placed either very little to no trust in social media as a source of election information.
