Transportation CO₂ emissions in the U.S. 2018-2023, by month
Monthly U.S. transportation emissions typically follow a similar pattern each year, with the lowest emissions produced in February and the highest emissions produced in August. A notable exception to this was in 2020. Emissions plummeted to a monthly low in April of that year due to the outbreak of COVID-19 and the resulting lockdowns and travel bans imposed across the country.
