Perodua cars sales volume in Malaysia from 2014-2023
History of Perodua
Established in 1993, Perodua was the second national car company launched in Malaysia. The company’s first car was the Perodua Kancil released in 1994. Since it was established, the company has expanded to offer automobile repair services, auto parts, insurance, and auto finance nationwide. Perodua passenger cars are also sold in other countries such as United Kingdom, Singapore, Brunei, Fiji, Nepal, Mauritius and Sri Lanka.
Current developments
Sales of Perodua vehicles rose in 2019, spurred by continuous strong demand for all its passenger car models, namely the Alza, Aruz, Bezza, Axia and Myvi. As of now, Perodua held the largest market share in Malaysia, accounting for approximately 41 percent of total passenger car sales, followed by Proton. Nevertheless, the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as stricter emission regulations in the country, had an effect on the overall performance of the national car brand, and sales volume decreased in 2020 and 2021.
