In the United States, the average person has a 1 in 6 chance of dying from heart disease and a 1 in 7 chance of dying from cancer. In comparison, the odds of dying from a dog attack are 1 in 53,843. Sadly, the odds of dying from an opioid overdose in the U.S. are 1 in 58, making death from an opioid overdose more likely than dying from a motor vehicle accident.
