Dutch Bicycle sales
Among the traditional bicycles, e-bikes are becoming an increasingly common feature on Dutch roads, with nearly 80 percent of sales revenue in new bike sales generated by e-bikes. In 2022, e-bikes generated over 1.2 billion euros in sales value in the Netherlands. Meanwhile, city bikes, which had traditionally dominated the market, only accounted for less than ten percent of sales.
European e-bike market expanding
The Netherlands are not the only country in Europe, where e-bikes are gaining popularity. Across the European Union the e-bike sales volume tripled between 2016 and 2022, when more than five million e-bikes were sold across the continent. Sales are forecast to continue rising, with the European e-bike market projected to be worth over 32 billion U.S. dollars by 2027.
