Global transportation GHG emission pathways 2020-2050, by scenario
Without substantial technological advancements and stricter climate policies, global greenhouse gas emissions from transportation are projected to increase by more than 50 percent by 2050, relative to 2020 levels, to 11 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (GtCO₂e).
According to World Data Lab, transportation emissions would peak by around 2040 in a scenario where countries fully implement the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) they made to fight climate change.
