Population hospitalized in Peru 2020, by cause and gender
In 2020, approximately 495.5 thousand women and 178.9 thousand men were hospitalized in Peru. The most common cause of hospitalization among women was due to pregnancy, childbirth, and puerperium, with more than 315 thousand hospital admissions. In comparison, digestive system diseases were the leading cause of hospitalizations among men in the South American country, with about 33.7 thousand cases recorded as of that year.
