Employment in the automotive industry in Austria grew between 2013 and 2019 and reached a high point of about 35,650 people employed in the sector in 2019. Employment in the industry dropped by 2.6 percent in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. While production in the automotive sector in Austria has begun to recover in the following year, employment has continued to drop and stood at 33,050 in 2021 but has remained relatively stable in the following years.
