Structure of gas sales in Poland
Most of the gas sold in Poland comes from foreign supplies. Gas purchases from abroad amounting to 190.4 TWh, were supplemented with gas from domestic sources in the amount of 40.7 TWh. PGNiG Group companies dominated gas sales to final customers. In 2020, the largest natural gas customers in Poland were industrial companies, followed by households - the second major final customer group during that year. In 2021, the most significant amount of LNG was sold to the industrial sector. However, households accounted for a small portion of total LNG sales in Poland. The volume of LNG sales to final customers in Poland in liquefied form amounted to approximately 667,296 MWh and was carried out exclusively by alternative sellers.
Renewable energy in Poland
In Poland, energy from renewable sources includes solar radiation, water, wind, geothermal resources, power produced from solid biofuels, biogas and liquid biofuels, as well as environmental energy obtained by heat pumps. The structure of energy production from renewable sources results mainly from geographical conditions and resources that are characteristic of Poland. The power generated from renewable sources in Poland in 2021 was mainly derived from solid biofuels, wind energy, and liquid biofuels. The total energy value of primary energy obtained from renewable sources in the country was 371,788 TJ in 2021. The final gross consumption of the renewable energy increased by 66 percent between 2014 and 2021.
