Canadians who thought embryonic gene editing was acceptable for select purposes 2019
In 2019, 73 percent of Canadian adults surveyed indicated that it would be acceptable to use embryonic gene editing to cure a life-threatening genetic disease. In comparison, 9 percent stated that genetic embryonic gene editing would be acceptable to give the child preferred physical characteristics.
